A 2016 Michigan DNR grant funded a full tree inventory that guides those decisions.
• Milford Charter Township — Article IX of the zoning ordinance (Tree Protection and Woodland Preservation) limits tree removal to cases where a tree is hazardous, interferes with utilities or safe vision clearance, or has to come out for a structure with no reasonable alternative location. Landmark trees get extra protection, and removals beyond the ordinance limits can trigger inch-for-inch replacement.
